Sharita Pierce, a dedicated community builder, established Building D4 Community in 2016 with the goal of preserving affordable single-family neighborhoods. Her vision was to create an organization that provides comprehensive solutions to address the various challenges faced by underprivileged communities. Since August 2018, when she bought her first house using a credit card, Sharita has acquired 20 properties. Notably, 60 percent of the tenants pay up to 50 percent below market value. Ms. Pierce is also the President and owner of Clear Super Vision LLC, a construction company that focuses on residential rehabs and large land projects. Sharita is passionate about personal growth and enjoys learning new things or playing chess in her spare time.
Jacqueline Tobar, a proud native of Detroit's east side, graduated from Murray Wright High School. She is the founder of Scoops Ice Cream Stand and was elected President of the Strength in Unity Neighborhood Association in June 2024. Starting as a volunteer for Building D4 Community (BD4C) and later for Strength in Unity (SIU), she quickly became a familiar and energetic presence in both organizations. Her dedication to developing fundraisers to support our initiatives is highly notable. Her passion for the community and its people is evident in her dedication and involvement. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two wonderful children or watching Lions games with her husband.
Kennan has spent his entire life in the Metro Detroit area and firmly believes that Michigan and Detroit are the best places in the USA. He attended Birmingham public schools and earned a BA in Environmental Studies and Agriculture from Western Michigan University. Over the years, Kennan has worked as an environmental consultant for various firms in Southeast Michigan. He began his career when the first asbestos regulations were introduced by the EPA and OSHA, which led him to develop skills in industrial hygiene, focusing on worker exposure and safety. Mr. Robins also has extensive experience in due diligence during commercial property transactions, including site investigations and implementing remedial activities when necessary. Kennan is passionate about giving back to his community and volunteers with organizations such as The Metro Detroit Convention Bureau, The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, and the Detroit Grand Prix Association. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, boating, and attending flea markets.
Dennis is a native Detroiter, raised in and currently resides in District 4. He’s a proud graduate of Detroit’s Renaissance High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Marygrove College and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Dennis had a passion for serving the community. After a successful 21-year career with the Detroit Police Department, Dennis continued to serve this community as the Deputy District Manager for District 4 out of the Mayor’s Office and also the Deputy Chief of Staff for District 4’s Councilwoman Latisha Johnson. A lover of sports, you may very well catch Dennis at either a Lions, Pistons, Tigers, or Red Wings game.
Paul Lewandowski has been an environmental and regulatory lawyer for over 30 years. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Georgetown University Law Center. He worked as an environmental lawyer in Detroit and was the Director of Regulatory Law at the building materials manufacturer Owens Corning for almost 25 years.
Michael Lewandowski is an attorney currently working in Washington, DC. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Georgetown Law Center. He has experience with nonprofit organizations of all sizes which work on a variety of issues from politics to education, to environmental protection. He is an avid Detroit sports fan and always makes sure to catch the Red Wings when they visit Washington.
