Summer Chess Camp Registration

Chess camp will begin on April 20, 2024.

The final day of chess camp is on May 25, 2024.

The duration of classes is from 12:00 pm to 2:15 pm

The Mapleridge Summer Chess Camp is an exciting opportunity for young chess enthusiasts to learn and have fun! This program is designed to enhance or teach foundational chess principles and have fun while learning tactical patterns and other critical chess concepts. Volunteer-skilled chess players within the community will teach all classes.

Here are the key details:

• Objective: To learn how to play chess while enjoying the process.
• Age Group: Youths ages 9 to 17 are welcome.

Week 2 Playing the Game

Week 3 Opening Principles

Week 4 Variants of Chess

Week 5 Capturing Pieces

Week 6 Chess Tournament

• Special Incentive: On the final day of camp, students will compete in a chess competition, for a free entry into the next Mapleridge Community Inaugural Quarterly Elimination Chess Tournament in July.
• Grand Prize: The tournament offers a chance to win an impressive $500 grand prize, with total prizes equating to $1000.
